First published in August last year. Bubbling in and out of my top 10 ever since. I have added a link to the author. And two new pictures taken last Sunday after church.

Psalm 121
I lift my eyes to the quiet hills,
In the press of a busy day;
As green hills stand in a dusty land,
So god is my strength and stay.
I lift my eyes to the quiet hills,
To a calm that is mine to share;
Secure and still in the Father’s will,
And kept by the Father’s care.

I lift my eyes to the quiet hills,
With a prayer as I turn to sleep;
By day, by night, through dark and light,
My Shepherd will guard his sheep.
And my heart to the Father’s throne;
In all my ways, to the end of days,
The Lord will preserve his own.

Walking with my sister through the farmlands beyond the town, and again with the Ungardener, I was reminded why we chose to come and live here in Porterville .

Pictures by Jurg and Diana, words by Diana of Elephant's Eye

Dear Diana of EE, The words of the Psalm are indeed very moving and serve to remind one that there surely is, as a believer, a greater and unknown goodness which lies within our reach but possibly beyond our earthly comprehension.
ReplyDeleteI much enjoy always your pictures of South Africa which I know, even though I have never, sadly, visited, to be a most beautiful country. Indeed, one of my mother's closest friends, SB, was married to the one time [1960s and 1970s] head of the Civil Service and so I have known much of your country since childhood.
Spiritually uplifting, Diana. The images certainly do reflect a quiet wild beauty that is both majestic and earthy.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, Diana! And I see you're reading Georgette Heyer, one of my old faves, though I must say, I prefer her Regency romances to her mysteries!---Silence
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThe landscape are so beautiful. It's always a joy to look at them.
Those hills are truly majestic, and remind me of some of our desert mountains here in Southern California with their austere beauty. I'm quite amazed by how green it is in the valley.
ReplyDeleteThese awesome views of the blue signature mountains, I will certainly not get tired of watching.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, a very reassuring psalm...my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth..
ReplyDeleteThis is truly an uplifting post! The scenery is amazing and the psalm expresses the inspiration within those hills perfectly.
ReplyDeleteA lovely 'beryming' of psalm 121! And I do like the new header!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jack SQ! You are the first to notice (well I can only see by the comments...) the new header. And that sheet of yellow flowers, is just 'wasteland' next to the railway line, full of butterflies.
